Remember that trips are good for you and your family but that doesn’t mean they will be easy and filled with roses. If you have a hard moment, ask for forgiveness and move forward so you can still enjoy your trip!
I know enjoying traveling with our kids starts with Patience for Moms, so don’t forget to love yourself along the way.

Remember on trips, there will be struggles, as there are any time we try to do something good for our family, but please remember, along with every struggle we grow closer to God, His grace, and His beautiful blessing hidden in our life adventures.
Kids Activities & Family Entertainment for long rides:
I will admit I do integrate in technology, movies, and kindles, but my favorite are kids activities that bring learning and family connection along the way (while we are all sitting close together in the car).
Encourage Views-Look around you, how are the views different or the same as where we live.
Before you leave and as you travel talk about the trip 1st-“we are driving north or south, —-how many miles”.
When they ask, “are we there yet?”, you can say “You’ll know we are there when we see _____ fill in whatever the place looks like”.
If they are having a hard time getting along in their seats, you can remind them to “Stay in your bubble”.
If they are wiggly, you can sing “raise your arms up high in the sky, touch your toes and touch your nose” and even play “Simon Says” in your seats.
Imagination Games– you can pretend you are in different environments then the cars become the creatures; you can play “I spy” ; say words and ask them to “rhyme with me”; or search for “cloud animals”.
You can questions for great conversations & family connection, like “5 things I love about dad is ____”.
Write down their scientific observation questions (even on your phone) or in a little journal for science research next week.
Entertainment bags-for toddlers, I love to pack hard books, dashboards for drawing, and their favorite little toys. I like to hand them one toy at a time.
Snacks are entertainment for my kids-I give 1 little snack at a time so they’re excited for each new thing as opposed to giving them a whole tray of snacks. My favorites are: cheese sticks, applesauce, goldfish, water, pancakes (no mess and no syrup-just a plain pancake with flaxseed mixed in the recipe to help them stay full:).
Pray: You can for people that drive by and talk about”how are they feeling” and how can we help them feel better” or you can pray a thankful prayer for the trip and the vehicle getting you from point A to B.
Quick Tip: Remember to pack something familiar for your kids to feel comfortable wherever new place they are traveling. Like, I am packing their special blankets and a few favorite bedtime books.
Prayer for a Fun Trip:
Thank you for this trip. Thank you that you are so creative, you fill this beautiful world with so many fun adventures and diverse places. Keep us patient and kind to each other. Thank you for a fun ride and help us to be safe! Protect us along the way and help us find the joy in every new place! Thank you for our driver and we ask you to bless him or her and give him steady hands along the way.
We love you Lord God.
In Jesus’ name we pray,
