Instructions/pics
First, you can cut the toilet paper roll into 3 pieces for my 3 kids, about an inch wide each. If you feel like your kids can do this, let them cut the toilet paper roll into 3 equal parts.
Next, you can have the kids color the spider body (the TP roll) their favorite color, or just black is cute too! This was something my 4 year olds seemed to be able to do independently as I watched them (while making lunch in the kitchen).
Then, you can poke holes for the legs to go through (I used a ball point pen). I suggest adults do this part. Poke 4 holes on 2 sides parallel to each other on each side of the spider body. You just want to keep the holes smaller, so they hold in the pipe cleaner legs.
Next, you can cut a long piece of pipe cleaner into 4 legs, about 2 inches long each. If you hold both pipe cleaners together, you can cut all 8 spider legs quicker.
Then, you can give the 8 pipe cleaner spider legs to the kids to put into the small holes (where you poked earlier into the TP rolls). It may help to give them one leg at a time and count each leg with them as they push them in the holes one at a time.
Finally, they can glue on eyes. I love how H and M just lit up when they saw their spider come to life!
They can add some more decor to make it unique. H and M wanted to have sparkly spiders, so they added glitter glue.
Add learning: You can create a little spider puppet show, count with your spider, you can add 4 plus 4 makes eight legs, you can make a spider web, or you can go on a spider search.
Faith: You can talk about how God created many different creatures in the world and each has their own purpose, just like us. You can talk about the roles of spiders in our environment.
Add Fun: You can add sparkles to your spider. You can add a piece of yarn or twine to make a web for the spider to hang down on.
Hang them up! You can have them hanging down from a chandelier or you can have them hanging from a spider web you create, or even tape them up on the wall.
What are your favorite Halloween Spider Crafts for Kids?
Enjoy!
