Mason jars can be made into all sorts of fun crafts for the holidays! These Mason Jar Pumpkin and Friends are so cute and they are fun for mom to make too!
What kid doesn’t love fun Halloween crafts? My kids get super excited about crafting for Halloween! They are still learning to follow directions, fine motor skills, and sorting and this fun craft helps with all of those skills too!
“What are we going to make today mommy?” I love it when they wake up, barely out of bed and excited to craft some memories with mommy.
Add Learning:
Faith: You can talk about how the mason jar friends are the same and how they are different, just like God creates us to be unique while also being able to relate to each other.
Math: You can count little cheerios or little pom pom balls as you place them in the jar. You can add them up, when you line them up together.
Compare and Sort: You can talk about what different categories they match, like the cat is an animal and think of more animal ideas like a cat. You can talk about how they are similar and different.
Comprehension: You can talk about how ghosts are pretend and cats are real. You can make up fun stories with each of your mason jar characters.
Social Skills: You can learn about different facial expressions and feelings.
Toddler Activity Tip: For our crafts, Toddler J is doing a little here and there for a couple minutes or so. He liked sticking the eyeballs onto the “Jack o Lantern” pumpkin mason jar. He was not in the mood to help with the painting and that was okay, it was just great to get him something to be involved in the project too.
Mason Jar Jack-o-Lantern Pumpkin and Friends Craft for Kids
To prep, make sure your mason jar is clean and ready to go. Get your materials out. Remember to separate the steps out. This may take a day, so you have time for drying each layer and then adding on the decor.
They are so cute, all ready to have some fun with mommy! Don’t you love the mess I’ve got going on back there:)
For the Pumpkin Mason Jar:
Jack was in charge of the Jack-o-Lantern (with mommy’s help of course). Remember to always supervise our little ones while they craft.
Materials:
A small mason jar
Orange Craft Paint
A paintbrush
A black paint pen
Googly Eyeballs
Instructions:
First, we painted the mason jar orange.
Next, you can add on the eyeballs. We just used eyeballs with the sticky on the back.
Toddler J liked helping with this! He especially liked how the eyeballs stuck to his fingers.
Next, you can use the paint marker to add the nose and the mouth for the Jack o Lantern. You can ask the kids about what face the pumpkin should make and how he is feeling. Then let it dry and you are done:)

Create the cat face! First, stick on the eyes. Glue on the nose. We just cut a little piece of pink paper and glued it on. Next, we used the paint pen to draw on the whiskers, and mouth.
Finally, we glued on the ears.

For the Ghost Mason Jar Craft:
H was in charge of the ghost! “Boo” she said all excitedly!

white Craft Paint
A puffy paintbrush
A black paint pen
