I used to think I had to be perfect to be a Christian mom to do good in God’s eyes. I also thought it only “counted’ for God if I was serving directly in the church. Boy was I wrong. Serving at church is a beautiful way to serve the Lord but God has shown me it is not the only way! There are opportunities everywhere to love on God’s children. I loved when I heard on Klove that God calls us to scatter all over with his lovelight!
He calls us to go out into the world to serve and shine his light-into the prisons, hospitals, schools, at home, newsrooms, parks, restaurants and many more! As moms, we take our kids to so many places, both as working moms or stay at home moms.
Do you know you are already serving him by showing up every day as a mom? Motherhood can throw us for a loop and make us feel like we did nothing all day. At the same time, we can feel exhausted at the end of a day. I hope and pray that you find the little things you have done all day and believe in your heart you are serving a purpose.
Even more fun, is when you start seeing the little things you are doing in your everyday life activities. Was it smiling at a neighbor? Was it talking to a new friend at school? Was it helping a friend with something? Was it praying for someone (even a stranger at the market)? Was it helping in your child’s classroom? Was it praying for someone at work or lending an ear? Was it reading a story to a group of children?
If you reflect, I’m sure you will start to see and seek how to step out and love on God’s children (including grown ups) in our every day lives. We can make a difference wherever we are in life and being a mom, brings many opportunities for this.
“And we have known and believed the love God has for us. God is love and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him. “ 1 John 4:16
A Prayer to give us grace and courage to be the moms who God is calling us to be!
You are such a glorious Heavenly Father. We ask you to work in our hearts and in our lives to serve you as we scatter into the world. Whether you lead us to a conversation at a park, or helping in our children’s classroom, or our place of work, we trust in you to guide us. We ask for clarity in steps moving forward and we ask your Holy Spirit to give us the words that will guide our every conversation today and always. We believe in your lovelight Lord and that even in the smallest moments, you are working in us. We thank you for your grace as we learn and move forward in motherhood. Give us the courage and endurance to follow you, serve you, and fullfill the destiny you put before each one of us moms and our children.
In Jesus’ name we pray,
Where are you going to be today where you can shine his light? As moms, even shining into our children’s hearts is spreading his goodness in our world. Keep on shining moms and together & in all of our unique ways we can uplift in love!!
Hugs and blessings,
