In this fun season of Spring, let us get ready to show our kids the yummy fruits and vegetables that are ready to enjoy!
My kids and I enjoy finding new recipes and fun food! It’s a great way to encourage each other to eat healthy as a family! I am by no means a perfect mom, but we are always striving to find new ways to integrate yummy healthy food into our lives.

5 Fun Ways to Help our Kids Eat Healthy while Connecting as a Family!
1.Make it Fun! I like to cut the fruit and lay it out into different shapes. You can even put them into different bowls to create a rainbow! Review colors, estimate how many pieces are in a bowl, talk about how God provides food for us in so many creative ways!
2. Include the kids in on the Fun! Have little bowls of fruit ready to be poured into a smoothie. Talk about each fruit and ingredient as they are being added. Take them with you to Farmer’s markets or have them hand you fruit, or stir recipes!
3. Give them a Choice! I have found that having a bowl of fruit in the middle of the table or counter helps that grab for more healthy food. I like to lay out some cut apples, pears, grapes on a cutting board for them to snack on as they come by the kitchen. This also helps when they are asking for a bunch of snacks in between meals, as you can just refer them to the fruit or veggie tray.
4. Learn about Food! Talk about where the meal originated, or where oranges grow, read stories with kids eating fruits and vegetables, or take them to the grocery store and talk about all of the different foods you see. If there is a special food your area grows well, like for us it is strawberries….get really excited about it together! It’s a superstar fruit in your area!
5. Add New Foods into recipes! Make a smoothie, add bananas in breakfast cookies, pour the tomatoes into the spaghetti. Watch as you try new things and describe how they feel. Congratulate them for trying something new!
