It’s getting crazy with all of the Christmas to-dos! Family traditions…why do we do these? My number one priority, is teaching my kids the most important thing we need is love.
Talk about Jesus! This time of year is when my kids first got inspired about Jesus. They love learning about how Jesus was a baby just like they were and how he represents love. It is so sweet when they say “Jesus is always in your heart”.
The greatest gift of all! 1 John 5:11. And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
Thank you Jesus!
Family traditions…why do we do these? Well, for me they help me be intentional about the time I have with my family. It is important for me to remember the WHY behind these activities. This time on earth is a time to grow and unite our hearts for eternal love. Each of us has our own way to show love. Here are some ideas to get your mind and heart filled with love and fun for the holidays! Share more below!

Kids Christmas Crafts: I like to sprinkle in little morning crafts before the crazy days begin:) This gives us keepsakes and decorations to look back on.We like to paint, create ornaments, enjoy fun snowman food, and craft some cards for family.
Kids Christmas Tree: We like to decorate a tree that is just special for them. They get to add all of their kid-friendly handmade ornaments where they like to place them.
Cookie Bake-Off: We like to bake Christmas cookies for our family and friends. Sometimes, it’s fun to have a bake-off and vote which cookie tastes the best!
Christmas Pajamas: Yes, it is hard to get the dads to do this, but it is so much fun to all dress in the same pajamas! Even if you all where the same color (red white or green) t-shirts with some fun pants, it’s fun to feel more family connection!
Christmas Books: We love reading together! As a family, we enjoy stories about spreading love and kindness in the world! From papa dressing as Santa, reading some of the classic Christmas stories like “The Night Before Christmas” to mommy snuggling in a cozy blanket reading my new #1 best-selling children’s book, “Zoe in Double Trouble”. It so wonderful to read to our children and it makes it that much better when they end their books, feeling double the love!
Here’s our star pup Zoe!! She loves Christmas cookies:)))
Christmas Pictures: I like to take their pictures in cute Christmas outfits (even if you don’t have Christmas outfits yet, you can have them wear red or green for some cute pics). This gives me joy to review every year! I get to relive it every time I see their pictures.
For those in need, we love singing at a local nursing home. We grab some jingle bells and sing some songs! We hope this lights up their hearts and reminds them that Jesus is always with them!
In our town, we like to check out local fun like parades, Christmas tree lightings! Just simply driving around and enjoying the festive Christmas lights in our pjs with some hot coco is a fun way to celebrate the season.
Christmas Shows! I am most excited about Hailey and Matilda’s first Christmas Recital this year!! What a joy to watch my ballerinas dance this Christmas! We are also taking them to their first big performance now that they are old enough to sit still for a Christmas show.:))
At our church, I’m so excited to be hosting a Christmas Tea table this year!! What a fun way to bring the community together:)) I’m really excited my mother-in-law loves to decorate so we can enjoy hosting together!
In our neighborhood, we like to pass our cookies to our neighbors. My favorite thing is when we haven’t even really been able to talk much to one of our neighbors and then we bring them cookies sprinkled with some simple “I thought about you” love.
Kids Art from the Heart, one year we invited some friends over for a crafty play date. We love sharing our crafty joy with moms and friends showing them super simple crafty ways to enjoy the holidays together. This year, I’m so excited to sharing a STORYTIME of “Zoe in Double Trouble” inspiring artsy family fun in kids at our local “KleinDance Arts Studio”!
I know there are lots of ideas, I just want to share some ways to make it more memorable for you and your kids. Christmas snuggles surrounded by our family is enough to be thankful for and your kids will love anything that involves being with you (even if they don’t say it).
God bless you moms this Holiday Season! I know it feels like a lot! Even just one of these ideas leaves great memories of love in our kids hearts.
